RYUKA BLOCK POT
Born from Okinawan Breeze Blocks.
Born from Okinawan Breeze Blocks.
This is not a finished physical product. It is a digital product that provides print data prepared specifically for your selected 3D printer model.
Blocking the strong sun while allowing the breeze to pass through. Okinawan flower blocks were born from the climate and lifestyle of this land and have shaped the cityscape.
Ryukyu Hanabachi (Flower Blocks) do more than just reproduce their beautiful patterns on the surface. They reinterpret Okinawa's wisdom, which has long dealt with light and wind, into a structure that promotes the healthy growth of plant roots, delivering them as contemporary plant pots.
What we want to deliver is not just a single pot. It is about connecting the culture and design philosophy nurtured in Okinawa to the next generation and to the world.
DESIGNED IN OKINAWA. MADE WHERE IT IS NEEDED.
1|Gyroid Structure
The inner sides of the pot feature a gyroid structure, unique to 3D printing. This complex three-dimensional structure creates air passages, ensuring ventilation within the pot, while also achieving high strength with minimal material.
The pot thus combines the aesthetic beauty of flower blocks on the outside with functionality on the inside.
2|Internal Rib Structure
Internal ribs extending from the inner wall to the bottom of the pot prevent the pot from deforming and distribute the load of soil and plants evenly across the entire bottom. At the same time, they prevent roots from continuously circling along the inner wall in the same direction, changing their direction of growth. By guiding the roots towards the slits and the bottom, they suppress circling and create an environment conducive to the development of fine roots.
Ensuring ventilation, drainage, and root guidance
The pot features vertical slits on the lower sides and a mesh-like opening at the bottom. This design allows air to be drawn in from the sides while excess water is smoothly drained from the entire bottom surface, preventing stuffiness and waterlogging inside the pot.
Roots guided downwards by internal ribs reach the side slits and the bottom. When the root tips come into contact with air, it prevents them from continuously growing in the same direction, creating an environment conducive to the development of fine roots.
4|Elevated planter base
The dedicated saucer features a raised design that lifts the bottom of the pot off the floor. This ensures air and water can circulate between the pot and the saucer, without blocking the bottom mesh.
Its structure is designed to align with the pot's slits, preventing any obstruction of ventilation and drainage from the sides to the bottom. This specialized design supports the functions of the RYUKA BLOCK POT while collecting drainage water.
